Dawen has been practicing consulting engineering in central and northern Virginia for over 20 years. Before he earned his Master Degree from Kansas State University, he worked as a mechanical engineer in a consulting engineering firm specialized in Cleanroom design in China. His project experience includes commercial offices, higher-education, airport terminal buildings, K-12 schools and research/teaching laboratories, Tier2/Tier 3 datacenters, museum galleries and cultural centers. Project size ranges from 2k S.F. office tenant upfit to over several million S.F. campuses. System types include geothermal system, chilled beam system, thermal storage system, variable air volume system (for commercial and laboratory applications), Variable Refrigerant Flow system and large scale central chiller plant. He has also designed building electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems, including lighting system, building power system (including Medium Voltage system) and building domestic water and waste water systems. His unique knowledge and experience in ALL aspects of building MEP systems offer tremendous benefits to building owners and architects on delivering a truly INTEGRATED building system.
Dawen is an active member of ASHRAE. He has served on various technical committees and Technical Activity Committee. He currently serves as a voting member of SGPC 41 – Design, Installation and Commissioning of Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems, MTG.HWBE – ASHRAE Multi-Task Group on Health Wellness in the Built Environment. He is also a voting member of ASHRAE Research Advisory Panel.
